Nobody outshines Tommy, not even me.

I grew up, loving Hendrix, worshiping him, but when I look at all of these other guys, he is not even in my top 20 now, no way he could ever keep up with Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, Ronnie Earl, Danny Gatton, Roy Buchanan, page, or Tommy, he got high and he got sloppy…. Those guys put in the work!!!!

I saw Tommy about 15yrs ago in a small auditorium with about 120 people after he had done a FREE workship for school children on a Sunday. I was totally stunned and still am when ever I hear him.

With respect to OP, as well as being a Hendrix fan, Mr Emmanuel did not play any Hendrix here. He’s a wonderful guitarist.

I stopped playing with the guitar the moment I heard Tommy. LOL.

I just thought of something, now that Paco de Lucia has passed away, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin could remake the trio and add Tommy Emmanuel as the third player in the trio in place of Paco and reform the greatest acoustic guitar trio of all time. I hate the word awesome, abut _that_ would be awesome.

He was born around few hours drive from here in Sydney at a small country town called Muswellbrook (upper Sydney basin) with a population likely around five thousand at the time. So he is a Sydney boy by extension.

Phil was a huge Hank Marvin fan, as is Tommy too. After finally playing live with Hank at a live concert, Phil was pulled over by a policeman and he had had a bit too much Jack Daniel. Phil told the policeman that he didn't care _"I met Hank Marvin tonight and played with him."_ True story!

Hendrix could only dream of playing like Tommy.

Omg. I just noticed that TE broke a string at 3:28 and flawlessly didn’t miss a beat (hence the guitar change). I would pay anything to see these two legends play live together again. RIP Phil. Your playing and laughter is (still) sorely missed.

I saw him live a couple of years ago, and he played with so much energy, enthusiasm, and joy, even though it was probably his 500,000 gig after decades of touring. He just loves what he does, and it's a pleasure to witness him in full-on acoustic flow.
